Renault's Post Race Report
In an incident filled Canadian Grand Prix, Renault showed some real improved race pace banging wheels (literally and metaphorically) with some of the front running cars proving it can mix it with the best of them. After an initial good start off the line Phil, Renaults only driver for the today, slowly lost positions while the field was bunched up on the opening laps of the race dropping to the back of the field at one point but once the field had spread the Renault driver was able to get into a rhythm and put in some really competitive lap times even setting the fastest lap of the race untill it was beaten a few laps later. After making a final stop, Phil came out of the Pits infront of Chris (Force India) but later on in the lap had a collision with the Force India Driver in which Renault's and Phil's race were ended. (Renault will not take any further action regarding the incident)
Phil had this to say, " i think in Canada we have proven that we can have the pace to try and compete for a podium position instead of relying on other drivers having DNFs. We have some tracks coming up which could suit us quite well like Valencia and Silverstone but we also have tracks later in the year like Yeongam amd Yas Marina where we will struggle so we need to take the opportunity to try and take some big points while we can"
James Allison has also confirmed that there are some bigger developments coming.
